As a regular NOL card user for a long time, I experienced the balance check in the NOL card several times. Below, I have provided all the available ways that you can use to check your balance both online and offline. 

Note: To see the added amount on your card, please tap it within 45 minutes to 4 hours on the Nol Pay App, Metro gates, or solar-powered top-up machines.

RTA NOL Card Balance Check Online

For the balance inquiry in the NOL card online, visit the portal, enter your card number, and you will get your balance details. You can also check the NOL card history using the portal.

  1. First of all, visit the RTA portal balance check page.

NOL Balance Check App

The RTA offers an official app that allows users to check their NOL card balance. Here is how to check the balance online via the app. 

  1. First of all, download the NOL Pay app from the buttons given below.
  2. Log in to your account using your ID and password. 
  3. Now navigate to the card “‘Check Balance’ option”.

  2. You will get your balance details and all the other relevant details.

Note: Always use the official NOL Pay app for any NOL-related task. Avoid using any unofficial and third-party apps.

Check NOL balance Via Number

You can use NOL balance check number and Check the balance status via SMS. It is a simple and offline process and does not require any data connection. To check via number, write “NOL card tag ID” along with your 14-digit card ID and send it to “511”. This process is free.

Here is a more detailed breakdown of it:

  1. Open your message app and type “NOL Card ID” along with your NOL card number. 
  2. Now your phone number is registered with your NOL account. 
  3. Once the number is registered, type “BAL” and send it to 511. 
  4. You will get your remaining balance details in reply. 

Balance Inquiry at Metro Station

To check your NOL card balance at metro stations, simply use the card reader machines available near the station entrances and exits. Just tap your NOL card on the reader, and your current balance will display on the screen.

  1. Find the card reader machines near the station entrance or exit.
  2. Hold or tap your card gently on the card reader.
  3. Wait a moment for the machine to process your card.
  4. Your current card balance will be displayed on the screen. 

Check Balance At Retailer’s Stores 

If you would like to conduct a face-to-face balance inquiry, you can visit the RTA stores in your area. Here is how you can check it in stores:

  1. Visit your nearest authorized retail shop along with your card that supports NOL services.
  2. Tell the cashier you want to check the balance on your card.
  3. The cashier will ask you to tap or show your NOL card on their card reader.
  4. Wait a few seconds for your balance to appear on the screen.
  5. You’ll see your remaining balance plus details like card expiry and recent transactions.

You can use any of the above methods to find the UAE NOL card balance. All the methods are safe and free of cost. However, I used to check the NOL balance on mobile online via the app and the RTA website. It is because of the simple process and availability. You can also check NOL card balance history via app and RTA portal.

Check via Mahboub Chat Bot

Mahboub is RTA Dubai’s smart AI chatbot available in Arabic and English. It provides 250+ services, such as parking, fines, driving tests, and NOL cards, simply by chatting. Here’s how to check the NOL balance through it:

  1. Send a message to +971 58 800 9090 on WhatsApp or open the chat box at mahboub.rta.ae
  2. If you’re on the web portal, enter your name, mobile number, and email, then click Submit. On WhatsApp, skip this step.
  3. Type “Check NOL Card Balance” and send.
  4. Mahboub will ask for your card number. Type your NOL Tag ID and send it.
  5. Your current NOL card balance will appear on screen instantly.

Some users encounter issues when checking their balance due to technical errors or mistakes on their end. Based on my personal experience with the NOL card, the following are the most common problems I’ve faced, along with their personally verified, 100% working solutions.

Website Not Working

Sometimes the balance inquiry portal stops working and does not load. Here is the working solution to this issue:

  • Check that your device has a stable internet connection
  • Clear the cache, refresh the page, and try again. 
  • Try to do so during the hours when traffic is low.

Wrong Details

Here is how to overcome the wrong details issue:

  • Check and ensure that you are using an accurate card ID. 
  • Make sure that your NOL card is not expired. 

No SMS Reply

You send an SMS to the NOL balance check number and do not get a reply. Follow these steps to solve this issue:

  • Make sure that you are typing your card ID correctly. 
  • Check that your number is linked to your NOL account.

App Crashes 

Sometimes the app crashes while checking the RTA NOL card balance. Here is how to fix it:

  • Make sure that you are using the latest version of the app.

Balance Not Updated 

The system can take up to 4 hours to reflect a top-up. Here’s what to do:

  • Tap your card at any metro gate or parking machine to sync the balance.
  • Wait 45 mins – 4 hours, then recheck via Mahboub or the NOL Pay app.
  • Still not showing? Call RTA on 800 9090 or ask Mahboub directly.

Mechines Not Reading card

This can happen due to a damaged chip, a dirty card surface, or a faulty reader. Here’s how to fix it:

  • Clean the card and tap it flat. Remove any metal holders or phone cases near the reader.
  • Try another machine nearby. The issue may be with the reader, not your card.
  • Faulty reader? Report it instantly via the Madinati service on Mahboub with a photo.
